My aerolite cub is a single axle, according to my brake controller directions I only need a 20 amp. They wired the brake controller up at the dealer and used a 30 amp fuse. I'm going to go with the auto reset circuit breaker, this seems like a better deal than having a blown fuse, the 30 amp fuse probably was to big to blow anyway. Any opinions on this. Forgot to mention that I'm wiring in brake controller in a newer dakota I picked up.

The brake controller circuitry is usually built into newer vehicles intended to tow and is protected by a fuse or breaker already in the vehicle.  If your system has a brake outlet under the dash all that's necessary is to plug in your brake controller.

No fuses on either of my Tekonsha controllers, nor are they specified in the installation manuals.  (Neither the word "fuse" nor "circuit breaker" appear in the instructions.)

The manual for my Tekonsha Prodigy 90185 specifies a 20 amp resettable breaker for 1-2 axles or a 30 amp resettable breaker for 3-4 axles if a vehicle-specific wiring harness is not used (otherwise, follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions).

90185 Wiring Instructions
90185 Owner's Manual

Although there's likely only a very small chance that the fuse would blow, like Utilityworker, I'd probably go to the (small) effort and expense of replacing the fuse with a self-resetting breaker.

Didn't have factory installed wiring for brake controller and 7 wire plug for trailer, I did get wiring harness from dodge dealer for the 7 wire plug. I just have to wire brake controller in now and I be almost set to go.

since it didn't have the factory tow package wiring, it means you should add a tranny cooler also. then you'll have the equivalent of the factory tow package.

i'm assuming the truck has an aftermarket hitch receiver, since it didn't have the factory tow package.

I will be adding the tranny cooler, it's on my list. I talked the salesman into getting me a factory hitch.
