I was going through my new Home Depot flier last night and in there they show a new connector that can be used on PEX piping. This is really going to make it easier to work on the plumbing systems in a PU.

I saw this and thought exactly the same thing!

Side note:  I talked with a plumber about PEX and he said for houses they do not like using it as the animals can hear the water running inside and tend to chew through it.

Recumbentman,

Thanks for the information. I have found that the "SharkBite" fittings work the best for me. They have been a little pricey from the places I have purchased them. HomeDepot's prices are very competitive.

What else would you expect a professional plumber to say?  Unless you have a serious rat infestation or other critters with teeth living in your walls, that's not an issue.

Here's the warning from the PEX instruction page:  "Proprosition 65 Warning: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. Notice to Installer/Contractor: Californialaw requires this notice be provided to the consumer/end user of this product.6PEX"

If I remember correctly isn't this one of the reasons poly pipe was removed from home plumbing?

Think I'll stick to good ole PVC,,
